Smokies Rainmaker (AKA Rain) is a well built, 15hh, 10 yr old, Black Roan Gelding. He is a registered Pleasure Saddle Horse and has a good pedigree. Rain came from an older gentleman who had owned Rain for the last 7 years. We also bought Rain’s son, Smoke Signal along with him, who is also listed on our website. This gentleman said he and his wife had trail ridden Rain and Smoke lots of miles and his grandkids had also ridden them both around the farm as well as on some trails. Rain has been on camping trips and ridden in multiple states including, TN, WV, VA, OH, IL, MO, MS and KY. This gentleman sold his broodmares a couple years ago because it was too much for “an old feller like me”(as he said) “to take care of.” Now a couple years later just “the two geldings have gotten too much for mom and dad to care for and it’s just too dangerous for an elderly person to be out in this nasty weather” is what their daughter said. Personally I would love to see them go to the same home as Rain and Smoke would make an outstanding his and hers matched pair! But they are for sale individually…  Rain is easy to catch, clip, bath, tack-up, load, and handle in anyway. Rain is gentle and safe for a confident beginner to ride. He will flatfoot walk or he will move on out when asked. He has a natural runwalking gait and a smooth racking gait as well! Rain has had 3 months of professional gaiting, trail and bombproof training. He has been ridden around farm equipment, ATV’s, over large noisy tarps and has also had guns shot off of his back. Just like everything we say about our horses, we have the videos to prove it, make sure to take a look at those on our website. No matter where he goes or what he does, Rain is not spooky acting. On the trails he is always great! Rain has been exposed to all kinds of wildlife such as deer or turkey or other animals like cows or dogs and will go anywhere that he is asked too. He has been rode many miles in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and encountered every obstacle possible on the trail. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and over all types of rough terrain while still being sure footed. He has been rode in traffic, and is very traffic safe around cars, semi, log, and dump trucks. He has a great personality and a great attitude about whatever he is asked to do. Rain, sleet or hail, won’t phase the Rainmaker!!! Feel free to call me with any questions.
