Midnight’s Skoal Bandit (AKA Bandit) is a
15.2hh, 6 yr old, Sorrel Tobiano Gelding. He is a
registered Pleasure Saddle Horse and has a good
pedigree. I have known Bandit sense he was just a
yearling as a local family raised him back in the hills
of Eastern Kentucky. Bandit grew up with a family that
had 40 chickens, 10 dogs, and 5 kids, to say the least
there wasn’t ever a dull moment around the farm! Even
as a young horse he was one that never resisted
anything, was eager to please and always acted like he
was an old horse. I have trail rode many miles with
Bandit over the last few years, in which most of the
time he was ridden double by a lady and her youngest
son. While a lot of kids like to come home after school
and play basketball or ride their bicycles, Bandit would
take the kids for a ride, not around the house, but they
would head out, right down the highway and ride for
hours alone! Their Dad said not to worry because Bandit
knows he is hauling precious cargo! Not only did the
mother and kids ride Bandit but Grandpa and his bad
knees also rode him and Grandpa taught him to park out.
Grandpa would step Bandit off in a ditch, walk him up to
a large rock, or lead him up to the tail gate of a
pickup truck and then park him out just so that he could
get on. I have saw Bandit win over 30 ribbons at local
shows while being shown by the younger kids, they would
also ride him around the show grounds with as many as 4
at a time stacked on Bandit. He has been on trail rides
all over Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia,
and up into Indiana a couple times. Bandit has pretty
much done it all and saw it all! Bandit
is easy to catch, clip, bath, tack-up, load, and
handle. Bandit is safe for most beginners to ride. He
will flatfoot walk and moves out easily. He has a
natural runwalking gait with a great head nod and a nice
Racking gait up to 14mph!!! He also has a nice canter
and a good trail neckrein. Bandit has had 2 months of
professional gaiting, trail and bombproof training. He
has been ridden around farm equipment, ATV’s, over large
noisy tarps and has also had guns shot off of his back.
Just like everything we say about our horses, we have
the videos to prove it, make sure to take a look at
those on our website. No matter where he goes or what he
does, Bandit is not spooky acting. On the trails he is
always great! Bandit has been exposed to all kinds of
wildlife such as deer or turkey or other animals like
cows or dogs and will go anywhere that he is asked too.
He has been rode many miles in the mountains of Eastern
Kentucky and encountered every obstacle possible on the
trail. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes,
across deep creeks, over downed trees, and over all
types of rough terrain while still being sure footed. He
has been rode in traffic, and is very traffic safe
around cars, semi, log, and dump trucks. He has a great
personality and a great attitude about whatever he is
asked to do. Anytime is a good time for a Skoal
Bandit!!! Feel free to call me with any questions.
