Broke as a Joke (AKA Joker) is a stocky built, 16hh, 6 yr old, Buckskin Sabino Gelding. He is a registered Kentucky Natural Gaited and has a good pedigree. We sold Joker when he was a 3 year old to our good friends from Minnesota, named Jim and Marilyn Raske. Marilyn had decided to move up to a bigger horse and traded her smaller one back in. Sense owning Joker, Marilyn has trail ridden him in multiple states including Minnesota, the Black Hills of South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois Iowa and on their anniversary trip(with the horses of course!) to Big South Fork in Tennessee. While most couple relax on the weekends, Jim and Marilyn were the type that would load up the truck trailer and head out somewhere to go riding! Although they enjoyed riding their horses a whole lot, Marilyn and Jim decided that for the next few years that they wanted to get back into their old hobby of training and competing with herding dogs. Jim said that he was sure that they would be back down in 4 or 5 years to get a couple more horses from us but for now they were just moving into a different faze of retirement. Joker is easy to catch, clip, bath, tack-up, load, and handle in anyway. Joker is gentle and safe for most beginners to ride. He moves out easily but will walk when asked. He has a natural runwalking gait and a smooth racking gait as well! Joker has had 1 month of professional gaiting, trail and bombproof training. He has been ridden around farm equipment, ATV’s, over large noisy tarps and has also had guns shot off of his back. Just like everything we say about our horses, we have the videos to prove it, make sure to take a look at those on our website. No matter where he goes or what he does, Joker is not spooky acting. On the trails he is always great! Joker has been exposed to all kinds of wildlife such as deer or turkey or other animals like cows or dogs and will go anywhere that he is asked too. He has been rode many miles in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and encountered every obstacle possible on the trail. He will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and over all types of rough terrain while still being sure footed. He has been rode in traffic, and is very traffic safe around cars, semi, log, and dump trucks. He has a great personality and a great attitude about whatever he is asked to do. He is a great trail horse-no Jokes!!! Feel free to call me with any questions.
